Another Test Round

Greetings my fellow Online-Text Based-Space-War-Game Enthusiasts!

Thank you to those who participated in last week's test round, you helped us find quite a few bugs in the code. The bugs should (hopefully) be fixed, but we're going to do another test round to be sure more problems will not arise. It's worth mentioning that the Rewards bug is still going to be a problem, but doesn't really matter in test rounds. Hope to see everyone again for the next test round, the details are as follows:

Signup starts: Thursday 10th May 18:00 (GMT)
Ticks start: Friday 11th May 18:00 (GMT)
Tick Speed: 1 minute
Newbie mode: 48 ticks
Alliance setup: Sector alliances (2 per alliance)
Private spots: 0
Ship limit: 15

One thing to mention before we get the rounds rolling again. In case you have not heard, or seen on Facebook (why aren't you following us on Facebook? http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Star-Fury/203

), there's been a bit of a change at the helm here. Aftermath and Systems are going to be focusing on another project, so they will not be running the rounds any longer. They will still be around and still be admins, but responsibility for the rounds is now on......wait for it......Haldir. Yes the man you all respect,love,worship, tolerate is now running the rounds. But fear not, for I won't be changing much in terms of the game.

Now that we got that out of the way, down to business. We're going to start things off with a test round, just to make sure everything is good to run. Signup for the round will start tomorrow, May 4th at 16:00 on Sol, with Ticks starting at Saturday May 5th at 16:00. Full details as follows:

Rounds are back up....but since you're all inactive gits it's automatically deleted you all! (Hah!)

For Protheus we'll restore back to Signups later this evening and Sol to the same time, until then consider this testing! See if you can break the current rounds. If you do, let me know and you'll win a cookie.

Well, That was an eventful month

All sorts of things have been happening here for the past few weeks! It's been crazy!


First off, please accept our apologies for the downtime. It was absolutely necessary.


So what's been happening? To surmise: we've had hackers, ISP failures, Tornados (not literally) and interference from real life (Isn't that always a pain!) I won’t go into too much detail but the long and the squirrely of it is we’ve had to do a massive security overhaul, not only on the code itself but also on the server (just in case) the password hashing which we mentioned previously in an email and our monitoring of all of the previous. We have all been working hard to try and achieve this and I know some of you are peeved to have had to wait, I know this sucks but it has sucked for us more

I personally had to cancel my plans last weekend and had spent over 16 hours over the course of the two days working on the code alone, I’ve spent lunchtimes and evenings during the week sorting this out so no, we couldn’t’ have done it any quicker and I’m sorry that sometimes there was a lack of feedback or sympathy for you but hopefully now you’ll understand why.


The good news is we’re almost there, we still have a lot of testing to do and a little more tweaking of the system but we’re close. We aim to be back on Monday 3rd October, a date we shouldn’t have issue keeping this time. We will discuss a little bit later times and exactly what we’ll plan to do with the current rounds, once we know we’ll let you know.

New Sol and Protheus Rounds - 12th and 14th

We're going to be starting two new rounds within the next week. Signup for Sol will start on Monday 12th, while signup for Protheus will start on Wednesday 14th. Here are the full round details:

Sol

Signup starts: Monday 12th September 18:00 (GMT)
Ticks start: Wednesday 14th September 18:00 (GMT)
Newbie mode: 48 ticks
Alliance setup: Sector alliances (2 per alliance)
Private spots: 0
Ship limit: 14


Protheus

Signup starts: Wednesday 14th September 22:00 (GMT)
Ticks start: Friday 16th September 22:00 (GMT)

Both of these rounds will be two alliance rounds.

Yes, we know you can't log in.This is intentional.

There is a very good reason for it.

We hope to have it resolved sometime this evening (BST Time), More information will be coming out at the same time in email form.

Update and New Rounds

This is an email being sent to anyone that has signed up to Star-Fury in the last 12 months. If you haven't been following or playing SF in the last three or four months then you will not be aware of some of our updates.

Some of the big changes are:

*New in-game layout/theme
*Raid system - four or eight player raids
